Assessing water-energy interactions in New York
In a recent article published in the journal Sustainable Cities and Society, Rebecka Engström and others assess water-energy interactions in New York City by employing a Reference-Resource-to-Service-System (shown below). Comparing a set of different residential sector interventions, ranging from investments in low-flow toilets to installations of green roofs, the study reveals large variations in multi-resource efficiency gains and climate mitigation benefits.
