A joint OSeMOSYS and Leontief Input-Output model for Tanzania to assess possible electrification pathways in the country.
A new paper by Rocco et al (2020) presents a joint use of the OSeMOSYS tool and the Leontief Input-Output model to investigate possible electrification pathways in Tanzania. Four scenarios are presented, representative of different levels of electrification achieved. The paper highlights how it will be necessary to exploit the renewable potential of the country, but also to focus on enhancing the efficient use of energy and adopting decarbonisation plans for the industry and service sectors, to ensure a long-term low-carbon development of the economy.
