The winner of the Energy Management course project announced
Selecting this year's winner proved to be a challenging task. Team Gävle Goats emerged victorious for their outstanding optimization of the University of Gävle campus.
"Is competing in Energy Management within a university course possible?"
Yes, the students in the Energy Management course would undoubtedly say so. They have diligently studied, optimized, and devised comprehensive plans, incorporating energy management measures across various campuses in Sweden — Lunds universitet, Kungliga Tekniska högskolan, Göteborgs universitet, Karolinska Institutet, and Högskolan i Gävle, among others.
Within KTH Energy Technology’s masters Energy Management course, more than 150 students have worked on seventeen university campuses in Sweden and delivered specific recommendations on how to create a smart and sustainable campus by 2030. The top five groups have presented their proposals at the dedicated competition event and the winner team has been awarded to travel to the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona to present their work. The runner-up group (with the solution for KTH campus) will travel to Valencia to present it at the final workshop of the European project TIME.

The project work in the competition format of the 'Energy Management' course has been ongoing since 2017. In addition to these projects, students have undertaken optimization initiatives in cities such as Tokyo, Valencia, Mali (in China), and some towns in India, among others.
