Refrigerants: what to expect in the future

The use of the many commonly used synthetic refrigerants (e.g. R404A, R134a, R410A) has to be significantly reduced in order to comply with the existing regulations and reach environmental goals. Future refrigeration systems will use refrigerants with lower GWP values, and many existing systems will have to replace the refrigerants with alternatives ones. In this article we would like to make a brief review of some of the alternatives that are available, and what we can expect in the future.
