Control systems for hybrid solutions based on biomass fueled Stirling engines, solar and wind for rural electrification
The project is part of a program for solutions to rural electrification in Bolivia. I study the control system for a Hybrid power system based on a wood pellet fueled Stirling engine. This system has to be capable to operate on islanded mode in rough rural conditions. In addition, the system harvest the local energy sources to assure the reliability of the system.

Time period:
Project partners: KTH – SIDA – San Simon University (Bolivia)
Background
Bolivia’s potential in energy are not use now, because of the lack of studies and project on green energy generation such as electricity, heating and cooling in the country. The availability of these energy sources is distributed along the Bolivian territory and varies throughout the year due to change of seasons, rainy seasons, drought, and wind seasons.
Aim and objectives
To design and implement a control system based on a prototype Stirling engine appropriate to the energy demand and energy sources of rural areas of Bolivia to continue with the current investigation in the polygeneration area.
Outcomes
Implementation of energy labs in Bolivian university
A model of the control system for the Hybrid systems
